We Met Floyd!

Well, sort of.

We interrupt this post to remind you to tell everydog about Gomer's Birthday tomorrow, April 1 and what we're doing that's special... DON'T TELL DOGMOM! It's not an April fool's joke! It's ok to post it on your blog so long as you send us an email (dogs aye view at A O L dot com) to tell us you did. Now, back to our post.

Dogmom's been afraid to let us both see Floyd at the same time. She says we share a brain and that if one of us thinks it might be a good idea to chase and catch and unstuff the kitten, well, then she doesn't have any control over us because we both think it's a good idea.

But, apparently, it's not.

Anyways, she's been going in there for a while every morning and every evening. In the room upstairs that's attached to the bathroom. And we hear her talking to Floyd. And we here him purring really loud. And we hear her put food in his bowl and him eat it. And we hear her scratch on something and then smell something like pooh, but then that smell goes away again. And we here her throw toys and Floyd chase them.

We want to play too.

Anyways, this weekend the dogmom said she wanted to try a new test. She put up the pet gate that she used to use in our other house on the top of the stairs when she wanted us to stay in the basement. See it?

Then, she let Floyd out of the bathroom! See?

She said she was really proud of us because she knows we could jump that gate, but we didn't! And even though Opie scratched a little hole in it, he didn't try to push through it. And we all stood there for like forever. Well, maybe it was just 10 minutes, but it seemed like forever. And then know what?

Floyd just walked away from us and went back into the bathroom and meowed really loud. Can you believe it?

Big Mac's = Big Trouble!

Hi Dawgs! Opie here.

I'm posting today to ask for your help. Cuz I'm in doggie jail. Well, not really... today I'm going to Dog Pad... but I might as well be in doggie jail with dogmom 'cuz I made her mad I think.

See, dogmom has had us on this diet thing. Dr. Kate says we look perfect now. Other people who knew us when we were fatter say that we look too skinny. I weigh about 48 pounds and so does Gomer. Dogmom says I can't say how much she weighs -- not that I know anyways -- but she beat both Gomer and me in our diets because she lost 21 pounds so far and I lost 7 and Gomer lost 12.

Anyways, that's not why I'm posting.

See, dogmom brought home a Big Mac the other night. You know what those are, right? They're really really bad for you because they're loaded with calories and fat and salt. We never ever get to eat them and dogmom doesn't eat them hardly ever either. But she really wanted a Big Mac after losing 21 pounds and so she bought one.

Then, she brought it home. She came inside and she put this fantastic smelling bag on top of the fridge. And she gave Gomer and me our dog food in our bowls. Some Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice formula with some Hill's Prescription Diet t/d on top. Yum!

And she went upstairs to give Floyd whatever it is that she gives him. We don't know because we still don't get to go into the upstairs bathroom when he's in there.

Anypaws, while she was upstairs, I just had to investigate what that smell was on top of the fridge. First, I just tried to stand up and stretch really far. But I couldn't see it. So, then, I jumped up on the counter and tried to sniff it out. But I couldn't reach it. So then, I put my front paws on top of the fridge and left my back paws on the counter. But I still couldn't reach the bag. But I sure could smell it now.

And it smelled really good. Better than Nutro and t/d even. So I had to get closer.

So, I put my hind legs up on top of the fridge. And I got the bag and I stuck my nose in. And I opened the cardboard box that was holding my treat. Did I mention that I love it when dogmom makes getting the treat a game for me? Well, I do.

So, I was really happy with this situation. I was getting challenged and I thought I was doing pretty good at figuring out what it was that she wanted me to do. I had figured out how to get on the counter and how to get onto the fridge. Heck, I had even figured out how to get the bag and the box open. And, now I was getting my reward.

Then, I heard dogmom say, "Hi, Gomer! What a good boy sitting at the bottom of the steps... but where's Opie?"

Uh-oh. I think Gomer bark-narked on me.

Dogmom came downstairs and I froze. I mean, what could I do? I had lettuce hanging out of my mouth and the top of the fridge isn't big enough to hide very well when you're standing on it.

Dogmom was not very happy. She did that "Ooooooooohhhhhh-peeeeeeeee!" thing. Then, she went... "Noooooooooooo!" and a couple other words that I can't repeat.

She kept mumbling something about me getting sick and onions are bad and geesh, I'll probably get pancreatitis from the amount of fat in that. I think that's all good because it sure tasted yummy.

So, I don't get it. Why does she leave me these special treats and games if she just gets upset when I figure them out?

April 1:
One week from today is Gomer's Birthday! (Remember what we're doing on his birthday that we're not supposed to talk about but we already did?)

Dogmom said that Pet Crossing where she works part-time is having another FurEver Fun Day! on June 1 from 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. You can meet the doctors and the staff, take a tour of the hospital, learn some cool stuff, see some vendors and maybe even get a bath and brush (or at least lots and lots of hugs and kisses from the people at Pet Crossing.) Dogmom put up some of the details here, or you can look on Pet Crossing's web site under "events" in a couple of weeks for more details. Hope we'll see you there!

And, here are a couple more events you might like!

Is It the Easter Bunny?

There's a little grey and brown bunny that showed up in our side yard this morning. We've seen its tracks for a while, but never saw the actual bunny until today.

Dogmom says it might be the Easter bunny, since it showed itself today.

We think she's foolin'. It looks a little straggly and hungry to us. Dogmom gave it some of our little carrot snacks that she keeps in the fridge; it ate them really fast. She thinks he's hungry.

We'd post the pictures that we took, but dogmom left the wires that connect the camera to the computer on her desk at work. And, since it's still snowing here today, she says she's not going to drive there to get it. (We asked!)

Anypaws, Happy Easter to everydog! (And everycat, too, from Floyd.)

It's Sping! It's Spring!

We're learning, though, that Spring means something completely different in Minnesota! These are pictures that dogmom took THIS MORNING!

Is this what Spring looks like where you live, dogs?

"I'm cold, mommy, can I have my sweatshirt, please?"

This is starting to get deep!

St. Puptrick's Day Will Never Be the Same

Bye Bye Jessie.

We're very sad today. We were going to post today to wish Jessie a happy barkday, but instead we're saying goodbye to her.

Remember Haleigh? She's the girl that made us the Haleigh treats. We posted about Haleigh on our blog here and here and here. Jessie is Haleigh's dog.

Jessie would have been nine years old today. She got sick the first weekend in March, but then seemed to get better. But then, she walked over the rainbow bridge on Wednesday, March 5th. (We waited so long to post so that we could get some pictures from Haleigh and her mom.)

Haleigh and her sister and her mom and her dad are all still very sad. Someday maybe they'll adopt another dog. But, for now, they are just sad and remembering that Jessie was born on St. Puptrick's Day! So, she was just as Irish as the rest of her family.

Here are some of Jessie's family's favorite pictures of her. We're gonna miss her, too.

Happy St. Puptrick's Day!

Do you have some tricks saved up for St. Puptrick's Day?

We have lots of them if you need some ideas. In the meantime, we're off to Dog Pad to play in the snow that we got last night.

By the way, don't forget to look at our blog post from March 14 and bark the news to everydog, ok?

Shhhh... TELL EVERYDOG!

Ok. We're not supposed to tell anybody about this. "Dogmumm's" the word, so to speak. We know that all our dogblogging buddies can keep a secret and not tell anybody, right?

So... here's the deal.

We overheard dogmom saying that she's thinking about not buying us treats and toys on our birthdays (coming up!) this year. Instead, she's thinking about doing something that will help the doggies and kitties that need stuff ... like toys and treats and, well, frankly, like homes and people to love them. And people who will drive them to places like Dog Pad and Pet Crossing and bark parks and stuff. And people who will hire people like Jennifer and Randi to take their dogs out when they're going to be working long days.

Anypaws... we digest.

What we're trying to do is tell you to tell everydog and everycat and even everyhampster and everybunny you know to do something on our birthdays... without actually telling you to do it. Cuz if we tell you to do it, then we'll get in trouble cuz we didn't keep the secret.

Here's what you gotta do. You gotta mark your day planners and calendars and fire hydrants or whatever else will help you remember these dates: April 1 and May 1. Those are our birthdays (or at least close approximations of the day we were pupped.) I, Gomer, will be 8 years old on April 1. Opie will be 8 years old on May 1.

Anypaws... For every visitor to our blog on our birthdays, dogmom is going to donate 10 cents to a homeless dog or cat in need. EVERY visitor, whether they leave a comment or not.

Here's the best part, though. Every comment on our blog on our birthdays means she's going to donate 25 cents to homeless pets. Can you believe it?

It might be sponsorship of a senior pet (since we're seniors now, she says... we think we still look like dogs, though.) It might be helping with surgery costs for an animal that needs some. She hasn't exactly decided yet.

That's it. That's the secret. If you visit our blog on our birthdays, dogmom will spend even more of her own money on an animal that needs it than she usually does.

Don't forget! April 1st (that's a Tuesday) and May 1st (that's a Thursday). Visit our blog. Leave a comment. Help an animal in need.

And, in case you're wondering... we're not upset that she's not going to get us toys and treats for our birthdays. Know why? 'Course you do...

We know she's going to get us stuff anyways!

Dogs to Be Poisoned

Dogmom is too sick to say anything else after reading this: 100,000 dogs

We're glad that we live in the USA, even with its pet overpopulation problems.

Perfect Tosca

Look Dooley-Bean, We Posted!

Ok, dawgs. So one of dogmom's friends gave her grief the other day at Pet Crossing because we haven't posted on our blog for WEEKS! Anypaws, we're posting.

There, Dooley! Is your dogmom happy now? (Snicker, Snicker...)

Guess we should 'splain to all our regular readers and posters. See, Dooley-Bean is a cutie-pie Maltese. We wuf her. Even if she doesn't have her own blog. Even if she does run away and hide from us whenever we see her at Pet Crossing. Even if her dogmom gives our dogmom grief for hogging the computer and not letting us post so much.

Dooley-Bean had a bunkmate until recently, so we're not giving her any grief. Just her dogmom.

See, Dooley's buddy Casey had to go over the rainbow bridge a couple of months ago. He was sick and not even Dr. Kate could make him any better. We were really sad when Casey had to say goodbye. Everydog and everyhuman that knew him was.

But, Dogmom says that Casey is running and playing and feeling no pain over in the meadow beyond the rainbow bridge. And, that he probably found Skyper and Floppy, the dogs that dogmom had before she brought us home. And the three of them are all the same size and they're too busy chasing Spidey to be worrying about us right now.

Anypaws, we posted. Did you miss us?
