Wow! Yard Sale Results!

Hi Dawgs!

So, DogMom sat outside in the rain all day on Saturday (after being sick for three days... stupid human) so that she could help with the yard sale for pets needing veterinary care... (see previous post).

I guess I can forgive her for not spending the day with me. I mean, well, it was raining anypaws... so I didn't really want to walk around the preserve and get all wet.

Anypaws, Pet Crossing raised more than $1200 !!! for the animals!

Can You Help Us Help Randi?

You remember Randi? She's the one that came to our house to take us on walks before the dogmom was downsized at the newspaper. Now we have to walk with dogmom. It's not nearly as fun.

Anypaws... Randi's dog Gemi is desperately in need of surgery to remove a bunch of teeth from her mouth. There are too many teeth for the size of her mouth and her mouth is crooked and infected because of it. They've been trying to save money for her surgery since last summer.

Then Randi's dad had to stop working because of his health. And then Randi's mom got sick and was in the hospital for a month. And Randi lives with them and takes care of them and works two jobs to pay for everything.

Anypaws... Gemi has been on pain meds and antibiotics for almost a year in anticipation of eventually getting surgery. Now, she needs the surgery SOON! The meds are wreaking havoc on her little 12 pound body. Here's a picture of Randi and Gemi (the tiny one) and Gemi's brother Teddy and Randi's dad that we posted after the Iron Dog Triathlon last September.

Gemi's surgery will cost somewhere between $2000 and $3000. We won't know for sure until she's under anesthesia and xrays are done. She's going to Dr. Kate at Petcrossing (who does our teeth, too!) if we can help her raise the money.

Another Pet Event This Weekend!

Ok. So we didn't actually get to go to the Pet Fair in Shakopee with dogmom. But we know that she went because she came back smelling like all kinds of dogs. Big dogs and little dogs. Old dogs and young dogs. Black dogs and brown dogs and white dogs. Even a hairless dog, according to her... although we can't imagine that.

Tomorrow, Sunday, dogmom says that we can go to the Carver-Scott Humane Society's Walk to unite Pets and People again this year. We went the last two years. And, we behaved so we got to stay and walk with everybody. Sometimes it's hard when all those people and animals are around to behave, ya know?

Hope we'll see some of you there. It's at Lions Park in Chaska! The Walk starts at 1:00 p.m.,(registration at 11:30 a.m.), and lunch is at 2:30 p.m. There's more information HERE.

Fundraiser Update and Reminders...

Hi Dawgs!

Dogmom finally 'membered that she didn't tally up Opie's barkday visitors and comments for his part of the Dogs' Aye View fundraiser.

Anypaws, before she tells you the results, let me bark that I knew that I was your favorite of the Dogs' Aye View pups. I made almost twice as much money as Opie did!

On Opie's barkday we had 64 visitors ($6.40) and 37 comments ($9.25). That's only $15.65 for the animals! (Aaaarrrrooooohhh! I raised $43.85 on my pupped-day!)

Dogmom felt bad for him, so she actually did count all the visitors and comments for the whole weekend, too. That means that Opie raised $26.50 and I still beat him by raising almost twice as much...

Anypaws... the total is $70.35. So, dogmom is going to donate $75 to the "Protection for Pets" program for the Cornerstone Womens Shelter. The program provides boarding and medical care for pets that otherwise might be left behind (or worse) if a woman wishes to leave an abusive situation. Research shows a high correlation between animal abuse and child/spouse abuse. Sometimes a woman will stay in an abusive situation because she can't take her pet to the shelter. This program, sponsored and funded by local veterinarians and hospitals, ensures that the animals have a safe place to stay while mom is getting the help she needs to get back on her feet.

Next weekend, May 17, is the Pet Fair at Lions Park (1103 Adams Street) in Shakopee. Fair is from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Sunday, June 1, is the FurEver Fun Day at Pet Crossing Animal Hospital and Dental Clinic in Bloomington from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Shh.... Dogmom's not looking

At our blog, that is. She's been really busy the past couple of days and she hasn't had time to look to see how many visitors Opie got on his barkday... and how many comments there are.

We think that if you keep commenting and visiting all weekend, that we can beg forgiveness after the fact and she'll still count the comments toward the fundraiser. Cuz she's kinda like that, ya know?

Shocking Day and Reminder!

Today's the day that Tory and Mike are going to help dogmom see if Opie can be collar trained like a hunting dog to come back when he is called. Wish 'em luck, so we don't have to find the Dopester a new home.

Also, we wanted to remind you that Thursday is Opie's barkday. And, dogmom is going to do the donation-raising thing like she did with my pupped-day on April 1.

Iron Dog Triathlon 2007

Yo, Dawgs! Calling all dogs in the Twin Cities Metro Area! Wanna come meet us? Huh, huh? Do ya?

Well then get yourselves in shape (not really!) and get ready to have some fun (yes, really!) and join us at the Top Dog Iron Dog Triathlon 2007 THIS SATURDAY, September 8. It's a fundraiser for Top Dog Sanctuary. There's an agility event as well for all you agility-ability dogs!

Basically, the triathlon means that we get to play in the park, get our feet wet, pull our dogmom down the path, make her go through hoops and laugh our doggie butts off. And, the money raised will go toward building a sanctuary for doggies that can't find a forever home. Unfortunately, there are still some doggies out there that people don't want.

Whew! We're HOT! 10K Completed

Not only because the DogsAyeView First Annual 10K is done. You dawgs are PAWesome! But because it was over 90 degrees both days this weekend. Didn't matter to us. When we weren't in the air conditioning inside, we were laying under the sprinklers outside. It's a dog's life, isn't it?


Anyways, here are the results from the DogsAyeView 10K fundraiser in honor of our blogafursary!!!

• 804 visits = $80.40 to Friends For Life Animal Sanctuary, where dogmom adopted us... TIMES TWO, since you clicked the purple button!


• 177 comments = $17.70 to Southwest Metro Animal Rescue, which is in Chaska where we live... TIMES TWO since you clicked the purple button!


• 580 clicks = $58.00 to the Animal Rescue Site ... which, in addition, means 348 bowls of food for shelter dogs!

10K - Through the First Turn!

TODAY'S OUR DOG BLOG ANI-FUR-SARY!

Yay! We've got all kinds of dogs... rescue dogs and Perfect dogs and purebred dogs and geesh, don't get me started on the breed name... running in the DogsAyeView 10K. You guys and gals are HOT! By the way... we've even had a hampster and some koi fish participate! No cats yet... but we think they're just waiting to pounce on us at the end.

Ok... gig's up.

Dogmom was looking at her Google Analytics page last night and she wondered why there was a spike on our blog... so she finally read our blog yesterday and knows exactly what we're up to... and know what, dogs? She thinks it's a great idea and she wishes she had thought of it! (Opie says he knew she would... but I wasn't so sure myself... but then dogmom reminded us that she DID think of it!)

Anyways, she's really glad all our dogbloggin buddies are spreading the word. She said that so far, though, she anticipates that we'll be "under budget" for what she expected she would have to dole out. Can you believe that, dogs? She doesn't think we're spending her money fast enough.
'Course that just means more treats for us in the end. And then she'll start back on her, "Gomer, you're getting fat again" and "Opie, where is that greyhound tummy you used to have?" Now, dogs, we don't want that... 'cuz it means less food in our bowls and fewer treats and chew bones and more walks. Well, the more walks is ok, but the less food is a real hunger pain, ya know?

So, get busy and keep barking the news and pawing 'round your keyboards. We've got lots of work to do here!

Dogs' Aye View 10K Continues...

Ok, dogs... we've passed the first kilometer mark in the First Annual Dogs' Aye View 10K. We're doing great so far so just keep running around the keyboard and telling all your friends!
