Taxing Questions

Ok. Being dogs, we don't understand this whole human fascination with all things money. I mean, what do they need it for anyways? Opie and I don't have any money and it doesn't bother us any. In fact, what we find of dogmom's doesn't smell edible or even chewable for that matter...

It's tax day in the US. When humans seem to have to settle up with the government in terms of how much money they have versus how much money the government thinks they should have and how much our human counterparts should keep.

The silliness of this whole concept from a dogs' eye view... well, we think some changes should be made based on what we hear the humans talking about...
  • For example... did you know that humans seem to be penalized if they're healthy like our dogmom? Since she doesn't spend an exhorbitant amount at the doctor... she doesn't get a deduction for it, whatever that is. She never comes even close to the amount she needs to spend on medical stuff to get the deduction. She thought she'd be close this year. Never mind that last year we hurt her back and she still needs to go to a chiropractor... or that she tore some stuff in her knee and had to go to the MRI machine and physical therapy... or that she's allergic to us... since the amount she spent last year was only 7.3% instead of 7.5% of her incoming dollars (a difference of less than $150) ... she doesn't get to count it. What's up with that?
  • Also, she spent even more on Opie and me at the doctors than she did on herself. Doesn't count. Not a penny. What's up with that?
  • And, why is it that the people with the most money get the most deductions so that they end up paying less than everybody else. Hmmm... what's up with that?
  • And, don't even get us started on the whole singles-get-to-pay-more-than-married-people-thing...

Maybe our humans should just convert over to our dog economy... and we'll make the birds and the squirrels make all the money... there's so many more of them anyways.

Whaddayall think?

Wuf Ya!

My mom and dad realized that they forgot to file their state taxes last night and they had to get out of bed to do it - made me mad!
My mom said she doesn't mind paying taxes, she just wishes she could fill out a bubble sheet that says where she wants her money to go - more treats for me, I say!

Uh-oh... forgetting isn't good, Ike. Good thing they 'membered in time!

B&S - we heard about that whole DINK thing... but how come we don't count as kids? That's what we're called... and we're most certainly dependant on our humans, aren't we?

My mom says thank you to all the americans who pay taxes since you pay my dad's salary (even though it isn't much). She says we always get lots of money back so she is no help as to why tax laws are the way they are.

We don't know, Tosca... but dogmom had to pay and has been b&moaning too... something about we don't get as many treats... it's one thing when it affects her... it's a totally 'nother thing when it means less treats!

I think vet bills should be deductable - the year 2 members of my ferret crew got sick and needed surgery I spent more money than I've EVER spent on my health. You two should start a movement : ).

That's exactly what our dogmom said! She spent more on our dog teeth last year than she did on her whole body!
