Dogmom said there are two events coming up next weekend that will help pets that need a good home. At the first one, only the humans can attend... but at the one on Sunday, the pets can come, too!
On Saturday, May 31st:
Southwest Metro Animal Rescue is holding a Spring Fling Vendor Show! Home-based business owners will be showing off their wares and the event helps SWMAR to help abandoned, unwanted and homeless pets. SWMAR is a 100% volunteer organization that doesn't have a shelter facility; all of the animals are in foster care.
The Vendor Show is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chaska Community Center. Address is 1661 Pine Ridge Rd. in Chaska, MN. Here's a map!
There will be over 25 vendors - Arbonne, Party Lite, Pampered Chef and jewelry makers, etc.! DogMom will be there selling wine-bottle serving trays and she's donating 20% of sales to SWMAR. There will also be a raffle and food/treats for purchase.
We hope you all can make it!
On Sunday, June 1st:
Pet Crossing Animal Hospital and Dental Clinic is holding their third annual "FurEver Fun Day!"
Pet-related businesses, authors and artists will be there. You can tour the hospital where dogmom works part-time... and you can meet Dr. Kate and Dr. Hollee who fix our teeth!
The event will benefit Animal Ark Shelter and the Cornerstone Women's Shelter's "Protection for Pets" program - you know, the one we chose to give our barkday money to...
The event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pet Crossing. The address is 10861 Bloomington Ferry Rd in Bloomington, MN. Map and event details here.
DogMom will be there. We're not sure if we get to go (since she'll be working)... but we hope that you come!

We're Very Sad about Tasha
We're very sad to report that Tasha (of Tasha and Eva's Blog) crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday.
We're especially bummed because we had just met Tasha and Eva a couple of months ago when they came to Dog Pad to meet Tory and to stay there with us a couple of days. It's never easy to leave a Dog Pad buddy... but especially hard when they're a dog-blog buddy, too.
We're going to do everything we can to help Eva get accustomed to being the main dog at her house. She's never lived there without Tasha, so we know it will be hard on her.
And, we hope that Tasha's mom and dad know how sad we are about their loss. We think they would appreciate knowing that all our dog-blog buddies care about them, too. Won't you leave them a message at their blog?

We Got Tagged by Key West Collies!
Hi dawgs. Sorry we've not been posting as regularly lately. It IS spring (finally!) and we've got lots of things to uncover and discover and smell in the yard and the wetlands.
That, and dogmom has been hogging the computer. Something about needing to find a job since she was downsized... whatever that means.
Anypaws, our buddies Essex and Deacon at Key West Collies tagged us for the Japanese Name Game. They said they tagged us for it because it is easy. We're trying not to be offended by that comment... since they're going to visit Ohio soon and that's where we want to go this summer, too.
Anypaws... here's how the Japanese name game works: To do this name game use the following key: A - ka, B - tu, C - mi, D -te, E - ku, F - lu, G - ji, H - ri, I - ki, J - zu, K - me, L - ta, M - rin, N - to, O - mo, P - no, Q - ke, R - shi, S - ari, T - chi, U - do, V - ru, W - mei, X - na, Y - fu, Z - zi. Then you tag a few friends.
So... Gomer's name is Jimo Rinkushi.
Opie is Mono Kiku. (Dogmom laughed at that one because mono is monkey in Spanish...)
Floyd is Luta Mofute.
And, maybe best of all... DogMom is Temoji Rinmorin.
We tag Buddha, Butchy and Snickers, Tosca and Wimsey.
Wuf Ya!

Another Pet Event This Weekend!
Ok. So we didn't actually get to go to the Pet Fair in Shakopee with dogmom. But we know that she went because she came back smelling like all kinds of dogs. Big dogs and little dogs. Old dogs and young dogs. Black dogs and brown dogs and white dogs. Even a hairless dog, according to her... although we can't imagine that.
Tomorrow, Sunday, dogmom says that we can go to the Carver-Scott Humane Society's Walk to unite Pets and People again this year. We went the last two years. And, we behaved so we got to stay and walk with everybody. Sometimes it's hard when all those people and animals are around to behave, ya know?
Hope we'll see some of you there. It's at Lions Park in Chaska! The Walk starts at 1:00 p.m.,(registration at 11:30 a.m.), and lunch is at 2:30 p.m. There's more information HERE.

Fundraiser Update and Reminders...
Hi Dawgs!
Dogmom finally 'membered that she didn't tally up Opie's barkday visitors and comments for his part of the Dogs' Aye View fundraiser.
Anypaws, before she tells you the results, let me bark that I knew that I was your favorite of the Dogs' Aye View pups. I made almost twice as much money as Opie did!
On Opie's barkday we had 64 visitors ($6.40) and 37 comments ($9.25). That's only $15.65 for the animals! (Aaaarrrrooooohhh! I raised $43.85 on my pupped-day!)
Dogmom felt bad for him, so she actually did count all the visitors and comments for the whole weekend, too. That means that Opie raised $26.50 and I still beat him by raising almost twice as much...
Anypaws... the total is $70.35. So, dogmom is going to donate $75 to the "Protection for Pets" program for the Cornerstone Womens Shelter. The program provides boarding and medical care for pets that otherwise might be left behind (or worse) if a woman wishes to leave an abusive situation. Research shows a high correlation between animal abuse and child/spouse abuse. Sometimes a woman will stay in an abusive situation because she can't take her pet to the shelter. This program, sponsored and funded by local veterinarians and hospitals, ensures that the animals have a safe place to stay while mom is getting the help she needs to get back on her feet.
Reminder!
If you live in the Minneapolis area, there are some fun pet events coming up...
Next weekend, May 17, is the Pet Fair at Lions Park (1103 Adams Street) in Shakopee. Fair is from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Sunday, June 1, is the FurEver Fun Day at Pet Crossing Animal Hospital and Dental Clinic in Bloomington from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
See ya there!

Hey Dawgs!
We've been playing with dogmom for the past week and wondering why she's at home talking to people and working on the 'puter. Not that we mind... it means more ear rubs and tummy rubs and snacks and treats for us. Aaaannnndddd... we still have been going to Dog Pad to run and play.
Tory is helping dogmom to train Opie on some better obedience skills. He seems to be getting it and actually listening more. Dogmom says she knew he was smart... so smart he didn't think he had to listen to anybody.
Anypaws, he actually (sometimes) will heal and will come when he's called and sit-stay. Dogmom and Tory can open the door and tell him to stay and he actually does, until they walk out the door... then sometimes he thinks he should follow them even if they didn't ask him to.
But, it's a lot better than he was a few weeks ago when he went galavanting around the neighborhood chasing that squirrel for four hours.
Wuf Ya!

Shh.... Dogmom's not looking
At our blog, that is. She's been really busy the past couple of days and she hasn't had time to look to see how many visitors Opie got on his barkday... and how many comments there are.
We think that if you keep commenting and visiting all weekend, that we can beg forgiveness after the fact and she'll still count the comments toward the fundraiser. Cuz she's kinda like that, ya know?
Tell everybody!
