We Got Tagged by Key West Collies!

Hi dawgs. Sorry we've not been posting as regularly lately. It IS spring (finally!) and we've got lots of things to uncover and discover and smell in the yard and the wetlands.

That, and dogmom has been hogging the computer. Something about needing to find a job since she was downsized... whatever that means.

Anypaws, our buddies Essex and Deacon at Key West Collies tagged us for the Japanese Name Game. They said they tagged us for it because it is easy. We're trying not to be offended by that comment... since they're going to visit Ohio soon and that's where we want to go this summer, too.

Anypaws... here's how the Japanese name game works: To do this name game use the following key: A - ka, B - tu, C - mi, D -te, E - ku, F - lu, G - ji, H - ri, I - ki, J - zu, K - me, L - ta, M - rin, N - to, O - mo, P - no, Q - ke, R - shi, S - ari, T - chi, U - do, V - ru, W - mei, X - na, Y - fu, Z - zi. Then you tag a few friends.

So... Gomer's name is Jimo Rinkushi.

Opie is Mono Kiku. (Dogmom laughed at that one because mono is monkey in Spanish...)

Floyd is Luta Mofute.

And, maybe best of all... DogMom is Temoji Rinmorin.

We tag Buddha, Butchy and Snickers, Tosca and Wimsey.

Award and Tagged by Mud Puddle Girl

Even though we got tagged for the "Seven Things" tag before, we're doing it again for Mud Puddle Girl because she also sent us this cute award along with tagging us:

Anyways, that and she makes us smile, too. And, she's a new visitor to Dogs' Aye View and we want her to keep coming back to visit us like the rest of you do...

So, here are seven MORE things about us:

#1. We're both on diets to lose some weight. We think this is just because dogmom is on a diet to lose some weight. But she says it's because we're supposed to weigh about 50 pounds each and we weigh more like 54. I don't know what the big deal is... I used to eat all Opie's food and he weighed 50 pounds. 'Course, I weighed in at 72 pounds then! But, I digress...

#2. We're the Dog Pad K-9's of the month for October. Yeah, I know, I already posted about that this month... but Tory put some pictures up now... so it's new news again! You can check us out here: Dog Pad K-9 of the Month.

#3. We both lay like frog-dogs when we're just lounging around watching dogmom. Yup, our feet point backwards and our hips lay flat. You can see me doing this in the picture below.

#4. Look closer at my picture. See my ears? This is another thing about us that you probably didn't know before. We like to dry our ears out sometimes. Well, not really. Just sometimes when we stop running around, we both have our ears laying inside out like I do in that picture.

#5. Dogmom has spent a fortune for nice big new fluffy dog beds for us trying to find some that we like. We have great big round ones that have three sides on them like a big papasan chair that sits on the floor. We have glorified pillows with removable covers and cedar shavings inside. We have comforters that dogmom sewed into squares for us. We even have a futon mattress of our own. (Are you snickering with us, here, dogs?) Know where we sleep? On dogmom's bed, of course! Whether she's in it or not, that's where we sleep.

#6. When Opie's really happy, his tail goes around in circles like a propeller-butt instead of back and forth like a normal dog.

#7. When I toot downstairs, dogmom can smell it upstairs... and vice versa. And she doesn't even have a canine nose!!!

We tag Buddha for the seven things tag and the "You make me smile" award (www.beyondmyslab.blogspot.com) and we tag Jackson and Sydney and their dogmom Luann even though they don't have their own blog yet!

Laughs and Light Bulbs

So, we're posting twice today because Tosca tagged us the other day and we forgot to post in response. Well, we didn't really forget, but since dogmom does the typing for us, she put that in. Really, what happened, is dogmom is a dufus and she forgot to post for us.

Anyways, since we're both unique-boutique breeds, we decided that we could post something really special, right?

Here goes:

How Opie changes a light bulb...
Opie, if you recall from his DNA test results, is a combination of Beagle, American Staffordshire, Chihuahua and Poodle.

So, that means, according to the joke that Tosca was referring to, that Opie is a cross between blowing in the Border Collie's ear and waiting for his nails to dry and Yo quiero Taco Bulb. But that leaves out the AmStaff and Beagle...

So, here's how Opie changes a light bulb:
After blowing in the Border Collie's ear, and quiero-ing Taco Bulb, he howls to complain that the lights are out and then guards the house so no scary humans or insects or waving grasses come inside.

How Gomer changes a light bulb...
Remember, Gomer is a combination of Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, Whippet and Pug -- and we're sure the retest will show some Labrador, too.

So, that means that Gomer is a cross between "Oh, me, me!!! Pleeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I?" and "Why change it? I can pee on the carpet in the dark." ... But that leaves out the Whippet, Pug and Beagle...

So, here's how Gomer changes a light bulb:
First, I howl in the dark to let you know that the light is out. When, being human, you ignore me ... or simply move too slowly, I'm going to chase the bulb down the stairs. I'll then shake-in-my-paws and stare at it for a while after it lands. After I've peed on it, I'll let you tie a string around it and put it into the socket. I'll then run happily in circles, tightening the bulb, as long as you're holding a special treat in front of my nose. Got it?

There you have it. Any questions?

We Were Tagged by Casey and Peanut!

Our new dog-blog buds, Casey and Peanut at http://www.caseyandpeanut.blogspot.com/, tagged us in the friendship tag game. (Thanks, Casey and Peanut!) For friendship tag, you have to list seven random facts or habits about yourself.

Here are our 7 random facts / habits:
1. Dogmom, a.k.a. Trish, started this blog to show people she works with how easy it is.

2. Dogs' Aye View is written primarily in the voice of Gomer, the Lab/Beagle/Cocker/Whippet/Pug mix. Opie, the Beagle/Chihuahua/Am.Staff/Poodle mix, occasionally chimes in with his hound howl.

3. Dogmom has lived in something like 20 cities in 5 states and three countries. We've only lived in three cities in two states since she adopted us.

4. Dogmom loves sashimi and sushi, just like Casey and Peanut's mom and dad.

5. Dogmom used to travel for her job (a lot!) but now likes to travel for the fun of it.

6. We're renting where we live now and wish we could afford a few acres or hobby farm in Minnesota.

7. We think we get to go to Ohio with Dogmom in a couple of weeks!

OK. Those are our seven things.

Now, we tag these dog-blog buddies:

Wimsey (http://wimseyblog.blogspot.com/)

Tosca (http://www.mypuppytosca.blogspot.com/)

Peanut the Army Dog (http://peanuts-thoughts.blogspot.com/)

Amy, Bala and Shankar (http://balashankar.wordpress.com/)

Ike (http://www.ikeslife.blogspot.com/)

Pippa and Kate (http://pippadogblog.blogspot.com/)

Dora and Liza (http://lizayoung.blogspot.com/)

The Rules:
  • Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves.

  • People who are tagged need to write their own blog post with their 7 things as well as these rules.

  • You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog.

  • Remember to leave a comment for them letting them know they have been tagged and to read your blog.

Eight Things About Us!

Thanks to Ike, our Minnesota dogblogging Boston Terrier buddy, for tagging us ... we were beginning to think nobody loved us any more! Anyways, here are eight things you probably didn't know about each of us...

8 Secrets About Gomer

  1. My favorite song of all time is “Who Let the Dogs Out” by Baha Men. Whenever I hear it playing I stand up and dance, dance, dance!
  2. My favorite movies of all time are “Homeward Bound” and “Lady and The Tramp.” If dogmom puts one of those in the VCR, I stop whatever I’m doing and watch the whole movie from beginning to end.
  3. When I was a little puppy, my favorite “safe place” was in the space underneath the night stand in dogmom’s bedroom. Even when I got too big to hide in there, I would squeeze and contort my body so that just one foot hung out.
  4. Like Ike, sometimes I snore so loud that dogmom moves me … or kicks me off the bed completely.
  5. I’m very afraid of Boxers… even though some of my bestest blogging buddies are Boxers, when I see one in dogson, I freak out and get scared and try to run away. And Maltese dogs kinda freak me out, too, ‘cuz I mistake them for rabbits until I get close enough to smell them.
  6. When I start barking and dogmom says, “Whisper,” I do.
  7. I like to steal Opie’s chew bone when he gets up to get a drink and eat the liver out of the middle and then let him have it back.
  8. These are all related, so I’m counting them as one thing ...

- My canine teeth on my right side are both broken off and had root canals.

- During my very first root canal surgery, I woke up and tried to jump off the table before Dr. Visser was done working on my tooth.

- I have to go see Dr. Kate again next week to have another broken tooth taken out.

8 Secrets about Opie

  1. My favorite song of all time is “Fur Elise.” When it’s playing on the CD or dogmom’s cell phone, I fall asleep. If I'm really anxious (like during big boomies storms) and dogmom turns that song on, I'm better ... even if I still hide behind the curtain in the bathtub.
  2. I like to sit on the couch backwards and lay my head on the back of the couch and look out the window and dream about one day learning to fly and catching some of those birds and squirrels out there.
  3. I absolutely refuse to come when called unless what’s being offered is better than what I’m doing at that moment – and what is considered better changes every moment, too, so that dogmom has to keep trying new stuff.
  4. I sleep with my eyes open.
  5. I love to run … even when I’m not supposed to be running ... but I love to convince humans to play “Catch Me If You Can” even more.
  6. I especially like cats and children and little dogs … German Shepherds kind of scare me.
  7. When I start barking and dogmom says, “Whisper,” I bark louder and louder. She has to say, "Wanna go in your crate?" to get me to stop.
  8. I lay down in the corner of the room and whine and talk until dogmom figures out what I want her to do (sometimes it takes a long time!), especially when I want her to make Gomer give me my chew bone back!

So, those are 8 things about us that you probably didn't know yet. We're tagging Niko, Max and Amy at One Dog and Two Birds blog -- they just started blogging this month! (See their blog at www.balashankar.wordpress.com!)
