Dogmom Needs Help!

Ok, so dogmom says that title is unfair and unnecessary and untrue. But, from our perspective...

Hey, don't bring me into this. I think all is grand and I actually like the thing living in the bathroom. It's got a stripey tail. It's you that needs help, dufus-goofball. - Opie

Wuf-up, dopester.

As I was saying, dogmom needs help. She brought this thing home to live in our bathroom. Well, really, she says it's not supposed to live in the bathroom forever. That, ideally, we would like the thing and that it would become a member of our family and we would be able to post videos like Tosca of how well we all get along at our house. (It does have a stripey tail.)

Well, I'm not falling for that. Maybe Opie likes the thing. But he's a dopester. Even though everybody thought he would be the problem child when it comes to accepting new housemates, especially like the one living in our bathroom. He's supposed to be a hunting dog, after all. Fat chance... he's afraid of loud noises. And, have you ever seen a hunting dog wearing a sweatshirt because he's cold? 'Course not!

But, I doggress.

Anypaw, dogmom keeps trying to let us see and smell this new thing living in the bathroom. I mean, it's totally not fair. She either puts it in a crate or she makes us wear the dreaded basket muzzles... And then she gets really upset with me when I try to bite it or scare it away. "It's liiiiittle," she says. "It's maaaaah-mee's, leeeeeave it," she says. And then, she brings out the worst one.... "Go-mee! That's naaaaht approh-preee-ate!"

Can you believe she actually uses that one? I mean, I just sulk away and hide when she says that. That at least makes her feel bad. I really gotta get that thing out of the bathroom so I can unstuff it.

Anypaws, I still don't know what this thing is. It smells funny. It pees and poops in a box. A smelly box, I might add, that makes me sneeze. It has tiny little dishes for food and water that I can clean out with one tongue swipe. And... it's sleeping in my crate.

Help me, somebody! Um, er, well, I mean... Help Dogmom, Somebody! Soon!

Anydog Wanna Kitty?

Ok, so we don't usually have cats involved with Dogs' Aye View, right?

Well, dogmom was pretty convincing, so we decided that today we would show you some kitties that need a home. See, dogmom's not a "cat person" usually... she's definitely what humans call a "dog person." Anyways, she likes these cats that are currently living at Pet Crossing Animal Hospital and Dental Clinic in Bloomington. That's where Dr. Kate (who fixes our teeth) and Dr. Hollee (who I saw for my yeastie-toes) and, well, where dogmom works sometimes.

Anypaws, these kitties live at the hospital. Not because they're sick, but because they don't have a forever home yet. So, if you're inclined to want or need a kittycat or if you know somebody that is, would you please show them our blog? Or, better yet, have them call Pet Crossing at 952-884-8248 and set up an appointment to meet one of these kitties and maybe take them home?

Here goes:

Princess – White w/brown tabby tail & markings (Age 7)
I’m Princess and yes, the name fits me. I’m a girly-girl; I know I’m beautiful and can be content to lay down and let you admire me. You won’t believe I’m seven years old when you see me – I’m healthy and happy, except that I’d rather be at home than living here at the hospital. I love to eat, so as my human you will need to help me to maintain my girlish figure by not over-indulging me with treats. I’m very much a cat person, but like some dogs, too. I’d love to meet your fur-family. Wouldn’t you like to meet me?

Bengal – Grey Maine Coon (Age 7)
Some people tell me I’m a seven-year-old Maine Coon with attitude. I like to be brushed, petted and have my ears scratched – but on my own terms, when I want, not necessarily when you do. I really don’t care for the hustle-and-bustle here at the hospital; I’d much rather be lounging around in a quiet home. I don’t mind some other cats – and the dogs that leave me alone are ok. If you’re looking for a quiet, low-maintenance, sort of guy, then I’m the cat for you.

Micky – Orange Tabby DMH (Age 7)
Yo! – I’m Micky! I’m a super- friendly, super- handsome dude who will be your own personal cuddle-bug and foot wrap on cold Minnesota winter nights. I sometimes hiss at other male cats here at the hospital, but that’s just because they are annoying sometimes. I prefer the company of humans. While my kitty condo here at the hospital is pretty swanky, I’d much prefer to choose a spot at your house. Ask to meet me and I’ll convince you to take me home. Go ahead, I dare you!

Heidi – Black & White DSH (Age 6)
I’ve had kind of a rough time of it in my short life, which makes me kind of shy at first. Show me you’re gentle and caring and I’ll show you my purr-fect side. I like other cats. I’m a little hesitant around dogs right now, but that’s just because one bit me recently and I needed some surgery and stitches. My meow is definitely worse than my bite, as I haven’t got any teeth. Won’t you take me home?

Don't forget - call Pet Crossing at 952-884-8248 and tell 'em Gomer & Opie sent ya to check out the kitties!

It's June... Meet Joon! (And Benny, too!)

Hi Dogs. In the interest of full disclosure for your owners and masters and humans, we feel very strongly that we should warn you in advance that if you are predisposed to going berzerk or crazy or just plain wanting to chase uncontrollably when you see kitty cats, well, you should shut down your browser or at least go look at another blog today. Dogmom suggests you visit any of the ones listed under our "Dog-Blog Buddies" list on the left.

It's ok. We won't judge. Just come back and visit us again this weekend or on Monday.

See, 'cuz dogmom got an email from our long-lost Arizona neighbor last night. We wuf Vivian and Don. Dogmom bought the house next door to theirs when Floppy was still living with her. And then he died and then she and Jennifer found me in the dumpster and took me to Friends For Life and then I lived with my foster-mom Keiko and then dogmom adopted me. And then I lived next to Vivian and Don, too. And then, a year later, Opie came to live with us. But that's not all really related to June and Joon.

So what?, you say? Well, Vivian and Don like to eat meat. Yep. Just like us dogs. But not just any kind of meat... well, yes, they do... but mainly they like to eat the kind of meat that humans buy at the store that still has the bones attached to it. Like steak... and pork chops... and hams...

Hey. Stop that drooling all over the keyboard!

Anyways, another thing we liked about Vivian and Don is that they had Benny. Benny was a little tiny kitten when we first met. Ok, well, to be honest he seemed as big as a great big grey tiger to me and I was kind of afraid of him. But, mostly he just played in his yard and I played in my yard and we looked at each other through the gate and all was well.

Then, Opie came to live with us and he kept jumping the six-foot block-wall fence and playing with Benny and chasing him and running around. And then we moved away to Minnesota and then Benny got Joon because he miss-ted Opie and me so much.

Anyways. I digress. But we really miss-ted our best kitty-cat buddies and know what? Vivian just sent dogmom this picture of them!

See why we like them?

They're bootiful.

And they play fetch and hide-and-seek and like to lay out in the sun like us and watch their dogmom ... um... catmom work on the computer and they are really great cats!

FYI - Granddogmom is going to either be transferred to the rehab hospital or sent home today!
Wuf!

1:43 p.m. CST - Uh-oh. Granddogmom is gonna be upset, 'cuz she has to stay overnight at the hospital one more time. She'll be able to go home (not to rehab hospital) on Saturday. She said it's ok... but she wishes she could get some sleep... it's impossible to sleep at the hospital.
